Boston-Edison Residents! Join us for an afternoon filled with food, prizes, games, a pooch parade, a dessert contest, children/youth activities and of course, neighbors both new and "established"! Spirit Beads to represent your street will be distributed. Let's see what street will win this year with the most neighbors attending. There will be special Spirit Beads for our new neighbors so they are easily identified and we can give them a BIG Boston-Edison welcome.

HBEA will provide a catered meal with vegetarian options also available. In exchange for providing the meal, we are asking neighbors to volunteer to bring a dessert, and if you'd like, to participate in the 2nd Annual Dessert Contest.

Enter your signature cake, pie, cookie or other sweet treat for a prize and bake-off bragging rights in our annual Dessert Contest! A panel of judges will select winners for each of the categories below and picnic attendees will select Overall Best Dessert!

    • Youngest Baker
    • Best Dessert You Can Eat with No Teeth
    • Bacon! Bacon! Bacon! Dessert
    • Best Vegan Dessert
    • Best Use of Fruit or Vegetable

Make sure there is enough to be divided into small portions for about 50 tasters. Winners will be featured with their dessert in the next HBEA newsletter, on our Facebook page AND receive a special prize!

RSVP here to let us know if you can join us for the picnic. Please register any non-resident attendees (adults only 18 and over) at $5.00 per guest. Payment will be collected at the picnic.

If you are planning to enter a dessert into the contest, let us know in your RSVP and bring it to Voigt Park between noon and 2:30 pm.

The Designers’ Show House is a biennial event, and the largest fundraiser for the Junior League of Detroit.

This year, the event is at the Fisher Mansion, the largest home in Boston Edison. Architect George D. Mason built this 18,000 sq ft, three-story English Tudor-style mansion in 1922 for Charles and Sarah Fisher. It features the finest materials and best craftsmanship, including Flint faience tiles in the Solarium and bathrooms, black walnut hand-carved panels and hand-carved lions holding the original Cadillac shield.

For more information, see the Junior League of Detroit's event page, or ASPIRE DESIGN AND HOME, the official national media sponsor for the event .
