Judy Rose, Detroit Free Press, July 10, 2016 (Touring the Motown Mansion)
We know this flashy mansion best as the longtime home of Motown founder Berry Gordy and the site of Motown's famous celebrations, but it has always had an illustrious life.
Before its walls rocked with the talent, the parties and the big personalities of Motown Records, the Michelson Mansion was one of the fine palaces built by Michigan's early lumbermen. The interior wood carving attests to this, alongside elaborate ceilings, carved Italian marble and stained-glass windows, some in bronze frames.
