KRESGE FOUNDATION FUNDED MINI-GRANT PROGRAM IN BOSTON-EDISON
Boston-Edison's Spring General Membership Meeting will be held Wednesday, March 23, 2011, 7:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Major Seminary. The meeting will feature the launch of the Kresge Foundation funded "Building Blocks of Neighborhood Preservation" mini-grant program. The details of the program will be shared and applications for mini-grants will be distributed to those in attendance. Block club presidents, block captains and vacant home monitors are especially encouraged to be in attendance for this very special meeting.
Additionally, a presentation will be made by Boston-Edison's housing investment partner Central Detroit Christian Community Development Corporation (CDC). Central Detroit Christian CDC received significant grant funding from the Kresge Foundation to acquire and restore foreclosed properties in the Boston-Edison Historic District. To date, eleven properties have been acquired by Central Detroit Christian CDC. The acquisitions and restorations are part of an ongoing comprehensive effort to deter blight and stabilize the neighborhood.
