TOPIC:

The Central Woodward Comprehensive Investment Strategy: The Implications for the Historic Boston Edison District

For the past two years, representatives of the Historic Boston Edison Association have participated in meetings with other stakeholders along the Woodward Corridor to discuss the priority needs of the community. Supported by several funding sources, the result has been the development of a strategic investment plan that includes the five following priority strategies:

  • Expand the number of housing units available for low to moderate income persons living in the area
  • Protect the investment of existing homeowners and build new mixed-income housing to attract new middle class residents to the area
  • Promote the area's economic vitality and competitive advantages to attract new businesses and jobs to the area
  • Create a safe environment for residents, businesses and visitors by addressing crime in new and creative ways
  • Improve educational opportunities for Central Woodward children and their families

Implementation of the plan is underway. You are invited to attend the Fall General Meeting to learn the implications for the Historic Boston Edison District and how you may play an active role.
