Boston-Edison Residents! Join us for an afternoon filled with food, prizes, games, a pooch parade, children/youth activities and of course, neighbors both new and "established"!

To make this year extra special, we're asking guests and neighbors alike to show off their Boston-Edison neighborhood pride!

Create your own signs and banners, lawn signs, create spirit chalk art on sidewalks for others to admire! Wear your favorite Boston-Edison t-shirt, or make your own! HBEA will have t-shirts and hoodies available for purchase. We will have special backdrops for your best photos- be sure to use hashtag #HBEASpiritDay

Highlights – Do’s

  1. Display your HBEA Spirit on lawn signs, banners, etc. for Sprit Day  
  2. Make your own HBEA Spirit shirt, hat, etc. (be mindful of sensitive messaging and content with your Spirit Wear).
  3. Bring your own seats, lawn chairs, blankets, etc. to the Spirit Day events.
  4. Wear your HBEA Spirit attire (HBEA merchandise will be on sale during Spirit Day events).
  5. Prizes for Best Hat, Best Shirt and Most creative Sign.
  6. Register!

ACTIVITIES FOR EVERYONE!

3:30 pm – Pooch Parade/Doggy Costume

4:00 pm – Registration/Check-in, Pre-activities (Arts/Crafts, Represent HBEA Spirit Stroll, Chalk Art, and much more)

5:00 pm – Picnic in the Park, Games, Children Activities

6:30-8:00 pm – Ice Cream Social

8:30 pm – Movie (PG)

R.S.V.P. to let us know if you can join us for the picnic. Please register any non-resident attendees (adults only 18 and over) at $5.00 per guest. Payment will be collected at the picnic.


Pooch Parade/Spirit Day Costume

  • 1.    Best Dressed
  • 2.    Best Treat Catcher: Dogs will sit in a row, (if your pet is young or unlikely to stay put for more than 2 seconds, have them on a leash and someone to hold onto them). The owner stands approx. 5 ft. in front of them.  Each owner is given 10 small doggy treats which they've got to toss to their pup, one treat at a time.  The dog that catches the most treats is the winner.
  • 3.    Best Trick/Talent Competition: Each owner will have their dog perform their best trick and the judges get to decide which trick was the best/coolest/funniest etc. or, instead of tricks you can use obedience commands such as 'sit, down, stay'. The judges can decide who obeys the commands the fastest/most accurately, etc.

Games/ Activities/Arts & Crafts

Socially distanced “good ole fashion fun” games, activities including arts/crafts give-away (jump rope, bubbles, chalk art/ hula hoop, potato sack race and more).

Picnic

“Tiffany’s Delicious Dogs” (a 2020 Oktoberfest hit) will delight you with a choice of beef or veggie hot dogs as well as bratwursts with all trimmings served from her food truck adhering to CDC guidelines. Or, if you prefer BYOPBM (Bring your own picnic basket meal).

Ice Cream Social

Sweet Treats Ice Cream Truck will serve up hand dipped ice cream with your FAVORITE toppings

Movie Night

You won’t want to miss the movie night featuring the award-winning movie “Soul” PG, Walt Disney Studios, Pixar Animation Studios.  Joe is a middle-school band teacher whose life hasn't quite gone the way he expected. His true passion is jazz -- and he's good. But when he travels to another realm to help someone find their passion, he soon discovers what it means to have soul.
