2023 Gilded Givers Appreciation Event

By: Fatoumata Cissoko-Willi

The Gilded Givers of Boston-Edison enjoyed an evening of fine dining, entertainment, and celebration for their continued over-and-above giving to the Historic Boston-Edison Association (HBEA). Their generous donations above the general membership fee contributes to the provision of services and events to all residents of our community.

The evening began by welcoming guests into the beautiful home of Raymond Landsberg, who hosted this auspicious event and is a long-standing supporter and host of many HBEA events. Guests were welcomed with an offering of drinks and a walking dinner.

Pierre Haden, HBEA president, then welcomed guests and gave a very sincere and heartfelt thank you for the wonderful collective work of our Board members, residents and community leaders for their support. The event guests included previous Board presidents, Darrell Stewart (1994-2002) and Dianne Bostic-Robinson (2015-2022), Cathy Garret, Wayne County Clerk, and Keith Butler, District 5 Deputy Manager. He highlighted his commitment to expand HBEA community reach outside of the boundaries of BE to truly make an impact for the greater good of all city residents.

He was joined by Mrs. Patricia Pickett, Vice-President, who further expressed her appreciation for the tireless work of Board members and residents to help bolster the current efforts to refresh all the signage throughout Boston-Edison and deliver events and programs that can have a huge impact on the quality of our community.

The guests then enjoyed the beautiful performance of Brendon Davis, jazz pianist, as he played a variety of classical, jazz and originally created pieces. His performance was impressive and truly enjoyed by everyone in the room.

As guests enjoyed dessert for the evening, Fatoumata Cissoko-Willis, Membership Engagement Chair, closed the evening with a presentation of the new HBEA Membership Levels that she and board members established to help garner a greater level of support from both residents and non-residents. This new model provides donors a variety of offerings associated with their giving levels. All members, regardless of level, will reap the benefits of the many social events HBEA offers throughout the year.

In asking guests what they thought about the night, three Gilded Givers shared their impressions.

This is the most organized and exciting Gilded Givers event I’ve been to.” – Hal Stanton, Gilded Giver

"The Gilded Givers appreciation event held last night was a testament to the strong sense of community we have in our historic neighborhood. From sharing stories about the history of our homes to discussing lifelong projects aimed at preserving the beauty of our community, the event was a testament to the strong sense of community that exists here. The evening was filled with good food, great networking, and a shared commitment to keeping our neighborhood a beautiful place to call home." - Andre Gilbert II, Gilded Giver

Great night! It’s inspiring to find yourself in a room with our neighborhood’s movers and shakers. These modest people slowly but surely contribute to making our community a better place for everyone. Truly passion-driven visionaries.” - Basia Rochon, Gilded Giver
